Every Saturday morning, Lajares holds a craft market in its main square. More than forty artisans and local designers set up their stalls, with live music or a DJ set to go with the morning.
Day and time
- Saturday, 10:00 to 14:00: the Lajares craft market in the Plaza Pública, the village square.
The music changes from week to week. Times can change with the season and on public holidays.
What you’ll find
This is a market of makers rather than resellers: crafts and design made on the island, by more than forty artisans. It is a good place to find something you will not see in a souvenir shop.

Music is part of the morning, with live bands or DJ sets, and on some Saturdays there are activities for children.
Getting there
Lajares is a village inland in the north of Fuerteventura, in the municipality of La Oliva, between Corralejo and El Cotillo and around a quarter of an hour by car from each. The market is in the village square.
Tiadhe buses connect the villages of the north: routes and timetables are on the Tiadhe website.
Before you go
- Bring some cash: not every stall takes cards.
- Go before midday: the market closes in the early afternoon.
- Sun and wind: the square is open, so a hat and water are useful in every season.
Other markets in the north
On Friday evenings there is the craft market in El Cotillo, and in Corralejo there is the market at El Campanario on Thursdays and Sundays. For fruit, vegetables and local products, there is the Mercado de las Tradiciones in La Oliva on Tuesdays and Fridays. Planaquí lists every market of the week, together with the fiestas and the other events of the island.
Every market on the island, day by day, is in the guide to Fuerteventura markets.
