Corralejo’s craft market is the Mercado Canario at El Campanario, the shopping centre with the bell tower in the middle of town. Twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday mornings, its walkways fill with handmade crafts and original creations.
Days and times
- Thursday and Sunday, 9:00 to 14:00: the Mercado Canario at the El Campanario shopping centre, in the centre of Corralejo.
It is a morning market: by early afternoon the stalls are packing up. Times can change on public holidays.
The Mercado Canario at El Campanario
The stalls set up along the walkways of the shopping centre, so the market is a walk as much as a shopping trip. The focus is on crafts and local products: pieces made by hand and original designs, a better choice than a souvenir if you are looking for something made on the island.
Getting there
Corralejo is in the north of Fuerteventura, in the municipality of La Oliva. El Campanario is inside the town and can be reached on foot from the centre and the seafront.
From the south of the island, Tiadhe’s number 06 bus connects Puerto del Rosario and Corralejo. Routes and timetables are on the Tiadhe website. By car, it is easier to park a few streets away and walk.
Before you go
- Bring cash: not every stall takes cards.
- Go in the morning: the stalls close around midday.
- Sun and wind: a hat and water are useful in every season.
Other markets in the north
On Tuesday and Friday mornings, the Mercado de las Tradiciones in La Oliva sells the produce of the island’s farms. El Cotillo has its craft market on Friday evenings and Lajares on Saturday mornings. Planaquí lists every market of the week, together with the fiestas and the other events of the island.
Every market on the island, day by day, is in the guide to Fuerteventura markets.
