Every Saturday morning in Puerto del Rosario, the Mercado Agrario de Fuerteventura brings the produce of Fuerteventura’s farmers and stockbreeders to the town’s bus station. It is where islanders come on Saturdays to buy their fruit and vegetables.
Day and times
- Saturday, 8:00 to 13:00: the Mercado Agrario de Fuerteventura at the bus station in Puerto del Rosario.
Times can change on public holidays.
What you’ll find
It is a real market, and a very local one: mostly the island’s farm produce and food, fruit, vegetables, cheese and other fresh produce, sold directly by Fuerteventura’s farmers and stockbreeders at around thirty stalls. Nobody comes here for souvenirs: it is where the island does its Saturday shopping.
On some Saturdays there is also live music and workshops for children.
Getting there
Puerto del Rosario is Fuerteventura’s capital, on the east coast, a few minutes from the airport. The market is in the town’s bus station: by bus you arrive right at the market.
Tiadhe routes link the Puerto del Rosario station with the whole island: routes and timetables on the Tiadhe website.
Before you go
- Bring cash: not every stall takes cards.
- Bring a bag: it is a market for the weekly shop.
- Go early: the market opens at eight and closes at one.
Other local produce markets
In the north, on Tuesday and Friday mornings, there is the Mercado de las Tradiciones in La Oliva, at the Casa del Coronel. Every market of the week is on Planaquí, along with the fiestas and the island’s other events.
All the island’s markets, day by day, are in the guide to Fuerteventura’s markets.
